How It Works!
90-Minute Parent/Student Presentation:
Why are you taking this online course? - All Virginia driver's education students under the age of 18 and their parent or guardian are required by law to participate in this 90-Minute Parent Student Presentation - as a component of driver's education.
The Virginia DMV has reviewed and Approved this online course - and all students under 18 are eligible. However, students who live in Planning District 8 are NOT eligible to take this online class. If you live in Planning District 8, you must take this 90-minute component "in-person" (in a classroom). Click here to find out if you live in Planning District 8.

- To benefit from the course, you must be comfortable with using a computer.
- This 90-minute presentation must be provided by the same driver training school with which you are completing the 30-hour driver's education course.
- This presentation includes safety information and videos, and prepares parents and teens for the in-car/behind the wheel course as well as the required 45 hour component.
- The main objective of the program is to give parents what they need so they can guide you through your "learning" years of driving, and its goal is to reduce the incidences of teenage car crashes, injuries and fatalities.
- DMV is committed to promoting transportation safety through the certification of quality driver training programs. If you have any comments or concerns about this course, call the DMV's toll-free number: (1-877-885-5790).
